NOTICE VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT, PRIMARY ELECTION – FEBRUARY 18, 2025

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day, is not serving a sentence for a felony conviction, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot. Proof of Identification must be provided before an absentee ballot may be issued.

You must make a request for a mailed absentee ballot in writing. You may make application for an absentee ballot by mail, email, by fax, or online at MyVote.wi.gov. Or contact your municipal clerk to request an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you. You may also submit a written request in the form of a letter that is mailed or emailed to the clerk. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different. If you have never applied for an absentee ballot via mail before, you must also include a copy of your official Photo ID. PLEASE include contact information in case there is an issue with the application.

Deadline for requesting a mailed absentee ballot. The deadline for making application to receive an absentee ballot by mail is 5 pm on the fifth day before the election, Thursday, February 13, 2025. Note: Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk regarding deadlines for requesting and submitting an absentee ballot.

The FIRST DAY to vote an absentee ballot in the clerk’s office is Tuesday, February 4, 2025. The LAST DAY to vote an absentee ballot in the Clerk’s office is Friday, February 14, 2024. No in-person absentee voting may occur on the day before the election.

In-Person Absentee Procedure

You are welcome to use your own blue or black ballpoint pen to fill out your absentee envelope.
The absentee clerk will need to check your voter ID.
After reviewing your ballot, you will fold it and seal it in the absentee envelope.
Verify your information on the absentee certificate envelope.
You will sign your envelope in the presence of the absentee clerk. The absentee clerk will sign and print as your witness.
Your absentee ballot will remain sealed in its envelope and secured in the Clerk’s Office until it is delivered to your polling place to be processed on Election Day.
On Election Day, the poll workers at your polling place will check your envelope into the poll book and will feed your ballot into the tabulator to be counted.

The municipal clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before Election Day to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on February 18, 2025. Any ballots received after the polls close on Election Day will not be counted.
